What is the difference between unsealed & presealed terracotta tiles

Our raw, untreated terracotta parquet is shown above. These unsealed tiles can be protected using an invisible stone sealer, which preserves the natural colour and character of the terracotta without discolouring the surface.

Below, the Baked Earth presealed terracotta parquet has been sealed with boiled linseed oil and varnish, deepening the natural colour of the clay and creating a durable, rustic finish. This treatment makes the tiles suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, while enhancing the terracotta with a richer, warmer, and more authentic appearance.

Presealed terracotta tiles typically don’t require full sealing after installation. However, we recommend giving them a light polish or a single coat of enhancer to restore any areas that may have dulled during handling or installation. This helps even out the finish and gently enhances the natural colour of the tiles.
