Slip Rating – Baked Earth Unsealed Terracotta Tiles
At Baked Earth, we are committed to supplying terracotta tiles that combine traditional craftsmanship with dependable performance. Our Baked Earth Unsealed Terracotta Tiles have been independently tested for slip resistance by Sliptech using the recognised BS EN 16165:2021 Pendulum Test in accordance with UKSRG Guidelines Issue 6/2024.
The testing covered our Baked Earth Rustic, Saint Rossa and Saint Martin unsealed terracotta collections.
Pendulum Test Results
| Test Condition | Pendulum Test Value (PTV) | Slip Potential |
|---|---|---|
| Dry | 62 | Low |
| Wet | 56 | Low |
According to the UK Slip Resistance Group (UKSRG):
-
36+ = Low Slip Potential
-
25–35 = Moderate Slip Potential
-
24 and below = High Slip Potential
What These Results Mean
Our unsealed terracotta tiles achieved a Pendulum Test Value (PTV) of 62 in dry conditions and 56 in wet conditions. Both results fall within the Low Slip Potential category, demonstrating excellent slip resistance under laboratory testing conditions.
These results make our unsealed terracotta tiles suitable for kitchens, hallways, living areas, conservatories and many outdoor applications when installed correctly with suitable falls and drainage.
Testing Standard
The testing was carried out using the Portable Pendulum Slip Test with a Slider 96 in accordance with BS EN 16165:2021 and UKSRG Guidelines Issue 6/2024. This is the recognised method used within the UK to assess floor slip resistance.
Important Information
Slip resistance testing is undertaken under controlled laboratory conditions. Actual on-site performance may vary depending on installation, surface contamination, weather conditions, maintenance and the cleaning regime.
