Baked Earth Terracotta Outdoor Use Guidance
Our Spanish terracotta tiles are crafted using a high-temperature firing process, combining gas and reclaimed wood to achieve exceptional strength and durability. They have been tested in extreme conditions, withstanding temperatures as low as -17 to -18°C for several weeks — both sealed and unsealed — with outstanding performance.
In contrast, our Saint Martin and Saint Rossa terracotta tiles are fired at lower temperatures to preserve their rich tonal variation and distinctive, natural character. This traditional method enhances their warmth, depth, and authentic aesthetic.
Each tile is individually handcrafted from natural clay, resulting in subtle variations in tone, texture, and finish. These nuances are a defining feature of genuine terracotta, ensuring every installation is entirely unique.
Our tiles have been beautifully used in outdoor settings by many customers, often with striking results. For external applications, we recommend applying a high-quality sealant or protective finish after installation to help maintain their appearance and longevity.
Produced using a fully natural, traditional clay composition, our tiles remain true to time-honoured craftsmanship, offering both authenticity and enduring appeal.
As with all natural materials, variation is an inherent and desirable characteristic — contributing to a refined, organic finish that cannot be replicated.
Outdoor Use & Care
Terracotta is a natural material that responds to its environment. Over time, some tiles may show signs of gentle surface wear or occasional flaking, and individual tiles may require replacement as part of ongoing care.
Careful maintenance is important, as harsh bleached cleaners or pressure washing (jet washing) can damage the surface.
For these reasons — and as installation methods, environmental conditions, and maintenance practices are beyond our control — outdoor use is not covered under warranty for any reason.
