About Baked Earth | Handmade Terracotta Tiles & Natural Clay Flooring UK

Baked Earth is a family run British company specialising in handmade terracotta tiles and natural clay flooring. Since 2009, we have been supplying terracotta across the UK, known for materials that feel considered, authentic and quietly refined.

Our collections are chosen for interiors where texture, tone and permanence matter. Spaces that value natural materials and a more thoughtful way of living.

A Family Legacy in Terracotta

Our story is rooted in Bangladesh, where a long established terracotta factory owned and operated by members of our family has been producing handmade tiles since 1995.

Terracotta has been part of our heritage for generations, shaped using traditional techniques that have remained unchanged over time. This connection to origin is central to everything we do.

Today, Baked Earth brings that experience to the UK, combining our close relationship with the factory with years of supplying terracotta flooring to homes, designers and architectural projects.

Direct From Our Family Supplier

We import our terracotta tiles directly from a specialist factory in Bangladesh owned and run by members of our family.

This close relationship gives us a direct understanding of the material and the way it is made. It allows us to maintain a consistent level of quality, finish and character across every tile we supply.

We remain closely involved in the process and regularly visit the factory. From the selection of raw clay to the final firing, each stage is carefully overseen to ensure the material meets the standard expected of Baked Earth.

Every tile is produced specifically for us, resulting in a collection that feels considered, distinctive and true to its origin.

Our Spanish terracotta tiles are sourced from long established partners in northern Spain, selected for their density, refinement and quiet elegance. These tiles are chosen specifically for Baked Earth and are exclusive to our collection in the UK.

Natural Material, Distinctive Character

Our terracotta is formed from natural clay and fired using traditional methods.

The colour variation, known as Rangamati, comes from the rich reddish, pink and warm amber tones of the soil. This gives each tile a depth and softness that develops naturally over time.

No two tiles are ever identical. This variation creates a surface that feels layered, authentic and entirely individual.

Responsible Craftsmanship

We believe that quality extends beyond the finished product.

The factory operates with clear standards in place to ensure fair wages, responsible working hours and safe conditions for all workers. Experienced supervisors oversee production and ensure that any issues are handled properly.

It is important to us that our business supports the people behind the craftsmanship.

Exclusive to Baked Earth

All of our terracotta tiles are produced exclusively for Baked Earth and are not supplied to any other company in the UK.

While similar styles may exist, our tiles are defined by their origin, their material quality and the care taken in their selection. Each piece is handmade and chosen for its tone and texture, creating a finish that feels balanced and refined.

A Material That Improves With Time

Terracotta is valued for its durability and its ability to age with quiet elegance.

Over time, the surface develops a soft patina and the tones deepen, bringing warmth and a sense of permanence to kitchens, hallways and living spaces. It sits comfortably within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
